Right before we left for Christmas break, our school’s seventh grade social studies teacher said to me, “I don’t feel comfortable teaching the common core stuff, because I don’t really know what to look for or how to score it.” (And yeah, he sort of looked like that guy pictured on the right.) So I put together a quick, easy-to-grade cover sheet. It’s a simple checklist that can be used by science teachers, social studies teachers–heck, any subject can use this–to grade a student on common core concepts (writing concepts, essentially).
And here it is: Writing Process Cover Sheet for Any Subject. Pass it on to the teachers in your building who feel insecure about teaching “the common core stuff” because they don’t really know what to look for or how to score it.
