You’ve just finished reading Chapter 11, which is called “On the Doorstep“. This seems like an uninteresting title, yet the chapter ends with an exciting event. Give Chapter 11 a new name and explain why you’ve given it this title. How does your title reflect what’s in the chapter?

  1. “The Key to Having Luck”

I would give the chapter this name because the dwarves were not having very good luck; running into ginormous spiders, getting captured by Woodland Elves, and being seperated from eachother more than once. So when Bilbo saw the hole in the stone slab, he had very good luck because the dwarves had been looking for the entrance for a couple days now, and they didn’t think of the entrance being opened with a key. Also, the sun had almost disappeared behind the city, and the secret entrance could only be opened at that time.
This title would be good for this chapter also because “The Key to Having Luck” means the secret to having just a little bit of luck to end their great journey and go home safe(:

  2. Im going to rename it “With in the Mountin Side”
because they are in the cave like thing and they find the door and use the key and it fiits

  3. “Darkness edging”

I choose this title because in the book when there all pushin the door open, they decrbied it as ” it was as if darkness flowed out like a vapour from the hole in the mountain-side, and deep darkness in which nothing could be seen lay before their eyes, a yawning mouth leading in and down.” And in the end its all about the darkness so it was creeping towards them as if walking on the edge of their lives…

  4. The Burning Door

i would call it this because they have to go in a stone door that has the treasure but a humunga fire breathing dragon killing machine is behind that to protect the treasure

  5. I would rename the chapter:
    Hobbit Steps

The reason I would rename the chapter this is because of the saying “take baby steps”, and hobbits are small, like babies. Also, with the “small steps” part of the ways that they have to take their time with finding the door, and at the same time not get frustrated.

  6. The Evil Within…

I would call it this becasue Smaug is a evil fire breathing dragon that lives behind the stone door protecting the treasures he has takin from the many people that have came trying the get his treasure and from the close by villages.

It reflects the story because Smaug is a very evil, huge dragon that lives within the mountain.

  7. Behind the Hidden Door

I chose this title because the door was hidden and they couldnt find it very well and they couldnt get in without the secret which the bird helped them with….

  8. I would name the chaper lo que la puerta

I would call it his so that the reader would wounder what it means but later they will find out what it is and i would be a door of such but they wont know whats behind it.

This refects the story cause there going to find a door and there gonna have to find out whats behind it.

  9. “One Problem at A Time”

I named it that because it took them awhile to actually open the door. And because a new adventure awaits them, and so there will be more problems to worry about.

I think it reflects to the story because interesting things happened, like the dragon.

  10. I chose “a rocky door shows itself”because the door is a rock and it shows itself right when they were about give up.

  11. The Secret Beyond the Hidden Door
I chose this because it showed how the door was hidden and they couldn’t find it very well. Also because it was hidden away.

It reflects the story because there is a secret beyond the hidden door which they will find. It also tells that they will have another adventure when they get pass the door.

  12. I would name the chapter “The Secrets of Secrets”

I named it that because it takes them quite a while to find the hidden door, which must have been a secret because its hidden and you can’t just see it from a regular view when your strolling through the forest. Also I named it that because the other secret is too figure out how to open the other secret, the door, resulting in me naming the chapter “The Secrets of Secrets”

I think my title reflects the story because they have to find the hidden secret door, then figure out how to open it.

  13. A sliver of Luck

I chose this title because it reflects that they have a little bit of luck getting the door open, but they will need a lot more luck to kill the dragon.

This title reflects the chapter because they were out of luck and had been looking for the entrance for a few days. Also the sun had to hit the crevase(bay) just right for the door to open.

  14. Where’s the Door?
I have decided to name this chapter this because its takes them days to find this hidden door, and I am sure that after a few days they are thinking to themselves “Where is that dang door?”

I think this title reflects the story because if they don’t find the door then they are either going to have to find another way in, or they are going to have to keep looking.

  15. Solved One Problem Made Another

I have decided to call it this because they finally found the door but now they have to figure out how to open it.

It reflects the chapter because they solved their first problem by finding the door and now they have another which is they have to find out how to open it.

  16. So Close yet so Far Away

I would call it this because they finally find the door but they cannot open it until the very end of the chapter.

It reflects what happens in this chapter because they finally are in the place where they need to be but they then face the new problem of opening the door which they accomplish at the very end of the chapter.

  17. The Crack

I would call it this because it was the crack of the sun that opened the rock so the could put the key in the door and go in.

Well the crack of the sun is what made it possible to find the hidden doorway on the mountain so I think it should be called The Crack.

  18. What lies behind the door?

I would name the chapter this so that the readers would know there was some sort of a door but it wouldnt give it away and because we wanna know what is behind the door.

The title reflects whats in the chapter by wanting to know what lies behind the hidden door and that is exactly what the dwarves and Bilbo want to know.

  19. I would have called it the Mystic Door Hidin Within. I would have named it this because the door is hidden very well and not able to be in sight in just regular view. The mystic part come from the part in this chapter were the bird is involed. The bird helped bilbo find the secretso the door could open. This title would be good for the chapter because if you named it this, you would then know that there is a door and there is something.

  20. The Secret of the Hidden Door

I have decided to call it this because the door could not be seen very easy and would not open until they figured out the secret that the bird helped Bilbo find.

This title reflects the story because you can tell that they’re going to find the door and that there is going to be something that they will have to figure out.
